Park Chu-Young has had a loan move to Watford confirmed in one of the latest transfer moves to go through. Given that he has only played one game for his parent club, it is easy to forget Park Chu-Young is an Arsenal player.
Indeed, he has been one since 2011 but for whatever reason he has been mysteriously been kept at arms length from the squad. Brought for £7 million, Chu-Young was expected to add depth to Arsenal's front line. His record for Monaco 25 goals in 91 games certainly suggested a competent player.
Yet Arsene Wenger has seen something that has obviously put him off Chu-Young. Last season he was loaned out to struggling La Liga side Celta Vigo. Celta Vigo survived relegation by the skin of their teeth but it was in spite of Chu-Young as he was frequently upstaged by Iago Aspas (now of Liverpool). Chu-Young only started in 23 games, scoring a paltry 3 goals.
At the age of 28 and with Wenger frequently trying to bolster the attacking line up, Chu-Young has no place at Arsenal and this loan deal to struggling Watford is simply further proof.
