After much speculation earlier during the day, Kim Kallstrom has finally signed for Arsenal on a loan deal. He completed his medical during the past hour and Arsene Wenger had this to say on the Arsenal website:
"Kim Kallstrom is a hugely-experienced player. He is a midfielder with proven quality at both club and international level. We welcome Kim to Arsenal."
Upon completing the move, Kallstrom had this to say: "Arsenal is an amazing club with a lot of great players and a coach who has done really well here for a long time. I am so pleased to come here to learn as much as possible. I’m here to do my best for Arsenal and to help out the team, so we can achieve good results for the last part of the season."
It is thought Kallstrom is being brought as insurance to cover the injured players Arsenal have as they embark on two difficult months that could make or brake their season.
Elsewhere, Emmanuel Frimpong has signed to Championship club Barnsley for an undisclosed fee until the end of the season.
The move will cause some disappointment among Arsenal fans after Frimpong had an impressive debut season. Nonetheless, 22 year old Frimpong has only featured in two matches since his debut season - both in the Carling Cup, therefore the move comes as no surprise.
The short term deal gives him a chance to start afresh and regain the form that saw him so highly rated.
