Liverpool have finally confirmed the signing of Lille's Divock Origi for the sum of £10 million. He has signed a five year contract though will spend the first of the five on loan back in Lille.
Liverpool had agreed terms with the player and the Lille a while back but were hoping to have Origi available from the get-go. Lille themselves were adamant a deal could only go through if Origi was allowed to stay on-loan with Lille for one more year.
In the end, looking at the bigger picture, Liverpool decided to agree to a season long-loan spell for the 19 year old.
For Origi, the loan spell with Lille will be a chance to add to his burgeoning reputation that burst into life in the World Cup.
Origi has yet to experience being a first team regular in his short career, though his performances in the World Cup, which includes a well taken goal against Russia (making him the youngest World Cup goalscorer for Belgium), suggests he is more than ready.
