Perhaps no other team symbolises the inconsistent nature of the Premier League than Everton. The Toffees have only won twice in ten games, yet find themselves five points away from a European position. Likewise, they are only five points away from QPR in 17th. With injured players back and showing some form, it is high time Everton start stringing victories together; a resurgent QPR will not make it easy, however.
Team sheets below:
79th min: GOAL! I shouldn't have berated him earlier. Bobby Zamora gets what looks like a consolation goal for QPR. It came down the left as Suk-Young played in Hoilett who crossed for Mutch in the box. Mutch held up the ball and eventually worked out a shooting opportunity. Howard saved but parried it out for a Zamora tap-in. Everton 3-1 QPR.
76th min: Lukaku off for Samuel Eto'o. Niko Kranjcar replaces Leroy Fer.
72nd min: Steven Pienaar comes on for Aiden McGeady. Straight after Hoilett volleys the ball over the bar.
64th min: Leroy Fer's calmness in possession allows him to play in Joey Barton whose long ball winds up with Jordon Mutch. Mutch's shot doesn't match the build up and Everton restart play.
62nd min: Sloppy passage of play from both teams winds up with QPR getting a shot on goal from Leroy Fer. Much like QPR today, the shot was hurried and wide of the target.
59th min: QPR have only scored two away goals all season. They bring on Bobby Zamora for Matt Phillips who hasn't scored in his last 20 appearances. Everton are safe aren't they?
52nd min: GOAL! Rob Green makes a horrible mistake. His terrible kick from a back pass allows Mirallas to pick up the ball deep into QPR's half on the left. He dribbles inward and finds McGeady on the right. McGeady crosses for Naismith who headers into the net.
QPR will have to create history if they are to win today. They have lost all 7 of their away games and Everton have never lost in the Premier League after taking a 1st half 2-0 lead.
46th min: First half is underway and already Mirallas is giving QPR hell. From Joey Barton's intercepted pass, Mirallas sprints into the QPR box before a slight touch from Richard Dunne brings him down. No penalty given.
Stats from the 1st half:
Everton 60% - 40% QPR
Everton 7 - 5 QPR
Shots on Target
Everton 3 - 1 QPR
Everton 1 - 3 QPR
Everton 4 -6 QPR
45+2 min: Referee blows for an end to the 1st half. Everton were slow to start and hadn't had a shot in the opening 20 minutes. However, they really came into their own with Ross Barkley in particular driving them forward.
44th min: He's on a roll now isn't he. Mirallas picks up the ball and puts Aiden McGeady in on goal. McGeady turns from the right and wraps a left foot shot wide of the target.
42nd min: GOAL! The 39th min represented the bad side of Mirallas, the better side of him has resulted in goal. His free kick completely wrong-footed Rob Green. Closer inspection showed it took a wicked deflection off Vargas.
39th min: Never dribble your way out of danger! That is what David Moyes would say but rather what current Everton manager Roberto Martinez expects. It nearly costed Everton dearly as Mirallas dribbled and continued to hold onto the ball when it was clear he needed to palm it away. Leroy Fer made the interception on the edge of the box but couldn't fashion out a shot.
32nd min: GOAL! And it was quite the worldie. Ross Barkley played in Romelu Lukaku who returned the pass. From there it was all Barkley as he evaded to challenges and thumped the ball into the back of the net. 1-0 to Everton.
29th min: Everton breathe a sigh of relief as comical defending is not punished. Tim Howard failed to collect a free kick and the ball fell to Leroy Fer. With an open net, Fer failed to connect properly and the ball fell to Vargas who was offside.
25th min: After a slow start, Everton have had a flurry of chances within a minute. Steven Naismith collected a cross from the right in the middle of the box and was unlucky to have his shot blocked. Kevin Mirallas picked up a clearance on the left wing, made his way inwards and blasted a shot narrowly over the bar.
21st min: Ross Barkley reels off Everton's first shot of the game. Middle of the pitch, his shot barely lifts from the floor and it is an easy save for Rob Green.
16th min: Junior Hoilett's left footed shot from outside the box skirms wide of the target.
9th min: Junior Hoilett is taken off the pitch due to an injury.
7th min: Following a corner Matthew Phillips right footed shot from outside the box flies over the bar.
2nd min: Eduardo Vargas snaps a powerful shot onto the back of Leighton Baines.
