The England squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier and friendly has been announced. Unsurprisingly, the squad features many regulars such as captain Wayne Rooney, centre back pairing Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka, Joe Hart, as well as the usual Arsenal and Liverpool contingent of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck; Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling.
However, after those players, a place in the England squad is is a free-for-all as in-form players try to usurp their more illustrious counterparts. Such players include Saido Berahino who has scored 10 goals in all competitions and Stewart Downing who is one of the leading creative players this season.
For Berahino it is the first time he has been called up to squad, whilst for Downing, it is his first call up since May 2012 - when he was a Liverpool player.
Likewise, Theo Walcott has also be re-called after a long-term injury. The Arsenal forward had been out since January but made his long awaited comeback against Burnley last week and has evidently done enough to prove his fitness to Roy Hodgson.
However, despite having shrugged of a long-term injury, Daniel Sturridge has not been risked.
