As far as David vs Goliath contests go, according to the bookies, this is the biggest one of them all in the Premier League as Burnley (the club with the smallest budget in the league and relegation favourites), take on Chelsea (the club with the second biggest budget in the league and title favourites).
What Burnley lack in starpower, they make up for with the element of surprise. Last season Burnley had the best defence in the Championship and considering Chelsea struggled to breakdown the defences of smaller teams ready to set deep, Burnley are well equipped to do the same.
In fact, in Kieran Trippier and Danny Ings, Burnley have a ready made partnership that can catch Chelsea off guard. Right back Trippier assisted 14 goals last season - 7 more than the Premier League's highest last season - Aleksandr Kolarov with 7. Furthermore, Trippier assisted 8 of Danny Ings 21 goals.
However, with Chelsea generally solid at the back, especially in the air, it is unlikely crosses will be their undoing. What Chelsea will really have to focus on is what they do up front. Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas were brought to help Chelsea unravel plucky teams like Burnley who disrupted Chelsea's title run in last season.
With Burnley being poor passers of the ball as well as being fans of playing with a 4-4-2, Chelsea and in particular Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, should have more than enough space to impose themselves on their competitive debuts. Expect Andre Schurrle - a player who thrives in space - to come good if the game becomes very open.
Burnley 0-3 Chelsea
*Diego Costa to score
*Andre Schurrle to score
*Cesc Fabregas to assist
*Poor pass leads to Chelsea goal
