The Premier League has just released news the Chelsea duo of Ashley Cole and Samuel Eto'o have been released, whilst Frank Lampard will have further talks after the World Cup campaign.
Most will not be surprised Ashley Cole and Samuel Eto'o have not had their contracts renewed; in regards to Cole, he was caught in an emotional state in Chelsea's last fixture of the season against Cardiff City. His tears and acknowledgement of the crowd were tale-tell signs he had played his last game for Chelsea.
It all started when Mourinho was caught questioning Eto'o's real age. The quip which was not meant for public leaked and since then the two have been at loggerheads.
As for Frank Lampard, it has been revealed Chelsea are still negotiating a contract renewal and as of yet nothing has been agreed to. Nonetheless, should he leave, the departure would bring to an end a 14 year association with the club. Unlike Cole and Eto'o who were household names long before Chelsea came calling, Lampard owes his successes to Chelsea.
A turbulent period at West Ham where Lampard was frequently booed was ended when Claudio Ranieri brought him in 2000 for a sum of £11 million. Many questioned the wisdom, especially after Lampard took a while to settle in but as time would have it, Lampard became anonymous with the most successful period in Chelsea's history and he just may go down as their biggest legend.
