Chelsea have been drawn with PSG once again in arguably the best tie of the last 16. Out of all the clubs Chelsea could have drawn PSG are indeed the hardest. PSG have proven their credentials over the past few years with two quarter final appearances. Highlights including a 3-3 draws with Barcelona and Chelsea in recent Champions League quarter finals, as well as defeating Barcelona this season.
Clearly the Ligue 1 champions are formidable opponents chocked full of world class talent. However, it is worth noting that PSG ultimately lost their quarter final matches against Barcelona and Chelsea whilst being in winning positions. They also finished behind Barcelona in their group after leading the from the very first match.
Their talent is unquestionable, their application is. Chelsea are among the toughest mentally in Europe and despite being a drawn against a side that could their equals, they won't be fazed. Their seasoned veteran of a manager won't allow it.
The same cannot be said for PSG. For the past three years they have slipped from winning positions and players like David Luiz, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani are susceptible to flopping on the big stage.
Chelsea will be wary but they will be the favourites to progress.
Winning the Champions League will probably come down to how spot on the tactics are from the managers. As far as Chelsea are concerned, they have the most tactically astute manager in the game.
