Arsenal are in the best form they have been in since the invincible's season, is this an omen? No. They will drop points today. With each passing week I predict Arsenal will lose or draw, it does seem as though I am gunning for them (pun intended). Am I? No. In fact, Arsenal are one of my preferred teams in the league (I probably should not have admitted that as I am supposed to be impartial). I just believe they still have deficiencies in their squad.
Here, I predicted they would draw with Swansea - had Bony buried his chance they would have drawn. Here, I predicted they would draw with Aston Villa and also lose to Tottenham - they were beaten emphatically by Villa and I admittedly read the Spurs game all wrong.
The big difference between Arsenal now and the invincible's is defensive cover. Is it a surprise that since Patrick Vieira left Arsenal have not won a thing? In each match they allow their opponent far too many shots on goal and at some point it will burn them. To prove my point I will pick on two out of the three most in form players Arsenal have right now: Oliver Giroud and Aaron Ramsey. When I first predicted Arsenal would lose, I put this down to Tottenham's strength in the middle and Arsenal's lack of a midfield enforcer. As the season has progressed, Ramsey has added goalscoring to his game, another thing he has added is tackling prowess.
West Brom are a team built for the counter as Manchester United found out the harsh way. With Sessegnon they have a superb dribbler and in Yacob and Mulumbu, they have two midfielders who will pressure Arsenal into mistakes. However, I will concede there is a spirit about Arsenal these days and if they are serious about mounting a title challenge they will get a result from this.
West Brom 1-1 Arsenal
