Today's late kick off should see goals, and lots of it. Both teams are in form, they both are favourites of neutrals (at least me anyway) as they are both open and attacking teams and it is because of that very principle they both are susceptible to letting in an avalanche of goals.
As both teams strengths and very much their weaknesses, I believe this match will be decided on which defence can come to grips with the scintillating football that is about to be played. So far this season they have both been as bad as each other, Swansea have only kept two clean sheets while Arsenal only have the one to themselves. However whilst Arsenal have their back four intact, Swansea may have to contend without captain Ashley Williams due to a niggling ankle ligament problem that prompted Michael Laudrup (Swansea manager) to state this:
"I would never ask a player to step down, not to play with his country but I think it's important in combination, club and national team, that we find a solution that can benefit all of us. There will be a moment I think where Ashley will need two weeks without a game"
Yet, despite being more reserved than Chico Flores, Williams is also adept at playing the ball out of defence. Slide two reveals Williams is brilliant at spraying the ball across the field and starting up Swansea's attacks from the back. He has currently averaging 56.8 passes per game, one of the highest in the league.
However, whilst Williams stats look impressive, they only tell one side of the story. Essentially Williams and Chico Flores are covering for each others weaknesses. Whilst Chico Flores has brilliant passing statistics, he has less of a range than Williams and relies on his dribbling skills to start off attacks from the deck. The lack of variation may expose Swansea to the dangers of Giroud, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey. Additionally, with Chico Flores being so much poorer than Williams at intercepting and Swansea generally being prone to several mistakes, Arsenal will should be able to win at a canter if they can pressurise the Swansea defence early enough.
Nonetheless, as touched on earlier in previous preview of an Arsenal match, the Gunners are poor at pressurising their opponents.
