Arsenal: Alex Oxlade Chainberlain, Abou Diaby, Lukas Podolski & Yaya Sanogo - Out; Mesut Ozil & Bakary Sagna - Doubtful
Norwich: Elliot Bennett & Anthony Pilkington - Out
Free scoring Arsenal come into this match in a rich vein of form. Even with Mesut Ozil doubtful, they welcome Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott back into the fold, so they have no shortages in ammunition to gun down the Canaries.
To pile further misery onto Norwich, Arsenal's recent form against them is good: Arsenal have won 3 of the last 5 games they have played together, drawing once and losing the other to Norwich.
A saving grace for Norwich could be Arsenal's defence. Arsenal have conceded 8 in 7 games and they have also conceded against Norwich in the past 5 fixtures they have played against each other. Nonetheless, for Norwich to this do they need to work on their attack. They have only scored 5 in 7 and it is down to the laborious build up of their play.
As explained before in Norwich's previous match with Chelsea, the tactic of lumping it to striker duo Ricky Van Wolfswinkel and Johann Elmander does not work. Theoretically Arsenal should be weaker than Norwich in the air, however due to the ineffectual partnership of Wolfswinkel and Elmander Arsenal are far stronger in the air. In fact Noriwch's tally of 43% of aerial duels won (13% less than Arsenal's) is among the worst in the league.
What could push the odds in Norwich's favour is if they switch their usual line of play from the right to the left. Whilst Snodgrass (who plays on the right has been largely ineffectual, Redmond (who plays on the left) has been dribbling past players for fun. As you will find below, he has succeeded in 17 dribbles in 6 games, an average of 2.8 per game. He has also been fouled 8 times, an average of 1.3 per game - you get the feeling if Norwich can get the ball to him more, these stats can rise even higher. The concluding result could be more goals via set-pieces. Arsenal have already proved themselves vulnerable to this tactic and Norwich do have the players to capitalise - even if they are not living up to their skill.
Due to the array of talent Arsenal have, no matter what Norwich do I can only envisage them chasing shadows - the gap is that great.
